Comparison

WaxEngine vs
Card Dealer Pro

Both tools scan a card and put it on eBay. They diverge on everything after that. Card Dealer Pro spreads across four marketplaces. WaxEngine goes deep on one and then keeps working on the listings once they are live. Here is the honest split, including where they beat us.

14-day free trial, no credit card. Founding ten: $19.95/mo for life, and the founder lists your first 25 cards with you.

What each one actually does.

Card Dealer Pro details read off their own signup flow and plan grid, checked August 2026, including their published trial terms. Where their material does not document a capability we say so rather than claiming they lack it. Pricing changes, so confirm the current numbers on their site before you decide.

Buy theirs instead when

  • You genuinely sell on more than eBay. CollX, Whatnot, and Shopify are real channels and WaxEngine does not touch them. If your cards move across several of those, this is not a close call.
  • You want the cheapest way in. Their entry tier is $9/month. Ours is $24.95. If scanning and listing is the whole job, you do not need what we charge for.
  • You want a native desktop app. They ship Windows and macOS applications. WaxEngine runs in the browser.
  • You sell basketball, soccer or racing. Our identification and pricing cover hockey, baseball and football today. Everything after the listing is sport-agnostic, but the scan is not yet.

Where we are the better tool

Listing was never the expensive part.

A card takes three to five minutes to list properly by hand. A card that sits unsold for eight months costs you the sale. Most tools in this category solve the first problem and stop.

Common questions.

What is the actual difference between WaxEngine and Card Dealer Pro?
Card Dealer Pro is built around getting cards scanned and listed across several marketplaces. WaxEngine is built around what happens after the listing goes live: your active listings get sorted into performance tiers, offers go out to watchers automatically, stale cards queue for a one-click end-and-relist, dead stock groups into bundle lots, and every sale reports a real profit number after eBay fees, shipping, and what the card cost you. If listing is your bottleneck, either tool helps. If your bottleneck is 1,500 listings sitting there not selling, that is the part WaxEngine was built for.
Card Dealer Pro lists to more marketplaces. Why only eBay?
Because doing one marketplace properly is a different product from doing four adequately. WaxEngine goes deep on eBay specifically: 80-character titles built in the order eBay buyers search, item specifics, store categories, shipping policies, the Negotiation API for offers to watchers, and profit calculated against eBay’s actual fee structure. If you genuinely sell across CollX, Whatnot, and Shopify, Card Dealer Pro covers ground we do not.
Their entry plan is cheaper. Is WaxEngine worth the difference?
Their $9 tier is real and it is cheaper than us. What you are comparing is a metered credit ladder against one flat plan. WaxEngine is $24.95/month with 1,000 AI scans and every feature switched on, so the offers, tiers, relist queue, bundles, and profit tracking are not a tier you upgrade into. Whether that is worth it depends entirely on whether you want the post-listing automation. If you only need scanning and listing, buy the cheaper one. One difference worth knowing before you compare the trials: theirs runs 7 days and the paid plan begins automatically unless you cancel first, while ours is 14 days with no card taken, so there is nothing to remember to cancel. In fairness to them, they do email a reminder two days before the trial ends.
What cards does WaxEngine handle?
Identification and pricing cover hockey, baseball and football raw singles today, with Pokemon scanning ahead of its pricing release. The store-management side (tiers, offers, relist queues, bundle lots, profit tracking) works across any eBay listings you already have, whatever they are.
Do I need eBay API keys or a developer account?
No. You connect through eBay’s own sign-in page and click Allow. WaxEngine never sees your password, permissions are scoped to selling operations, and you can revoke access at any time from either side. Automation ships switched off and does nothing to your store until you turn it on.
