guide fees

eBay seller fees for trading cards come down to one percentage and one flat charge. As of October 6, 2026, eBay takes 13.25% of each trading card sale up to $7,500, plus $0.30 per order on orders of $10 or less and $0.40 on larger orders. Listing fees, promoted listing fees and international fees only apply in specific cases, and this guide explains each one.

Every figure here was read from eBay’s US selling fees page on October 6, 2026. The examples assume a US seller, free shipping and no sales tax.

Key takeaways

  • Trading cards pay a 13.25% final value fee up to $7,500 per item and 2.35% above that.
  • Every order also pays $0.30 (orders of $10 or less) or $0.40 (more than $10).
  • The percentage applies to the total sale, including shipping, so raising the shipping charge does not avoid it.
  • The flat per-order fee costs the most on cheap cards: on a $5 card, eBay takes 19% in total.
  • Listing is free up to 250 listings a month without an eBay Store. Promoted listing and international fees apply only when they are triggered.

What fees does eBay charge sellers?

eBay charges card sellers up to five kinds of fee. Two apply to every sale, and three apply only in certain cases.

How is the eBay final value fee calculated?

The final value fee is 13.25% of the total sale for trading cards, up to $7,500 per item. The total sale is what the buyer pays, including shipping, so a card listed at $20 with $5 shipping pays the fee on $25. Any part of a single item’s price above $7,500 pays 2.35% instead.

The per-order fee comes on top: $0.30 when the order total is $10 or less, $0.40 when it is more.

What do eBay seller fees cost on a card sale?

Here is what eBay’s seller fees come to on a single card sold with free shipping:

Sale price13.25% feePer-order feeeBay takesYou keepeBay’s share
$5$0.66$0.30$0.96$4.0419%
$50$6.63$0.40$7.03$42.9714%
$100$13.25$0.40$13.65$86.3514%
$1,000$132.50$0.40$132.90$867.1013%

The $5 row is why cheap singles are hard to sell profitably. The flat fee is a large share of a small sale, and postage and supplies still have to come out of the $4.04. That is why many sellers put cheap cards into lots. Our free eBay fee calculator runs this math for any price, and our guide to how much eBay takes from a sale runs the per-sale math for several common eBay categories, not just cards.

When do the other eBay fees apply?

Do you pay to list cards on eBay?

Not usually. Without an eBay Store, you get 250 free listings a month in the US. After that, each new listing costs a $0.35 insertion fee, whether or not the card sells. A seller who lists more than 250 cards a month should compare that cost with an eBay Store subscription.

How do promoted listing fees work?

Promoted listings are optional ads. With a general campaign, you choose an ad rate between 2% and 100%, and you pay it only when a buyer clicks the ad and buys the item within 30 days. The rate applies to the total sale, including shipping and tax. On a $25 card at a 5% ad rate, that adds $1.25, so eBay takes $4.96 in total instead of $3.71.

What is eBay’s international fee?

When the buyer is outside the US, eBay adds a 1.65% international fee on the total sale, unless the order ships through eBay International Shipping. On a $25 card that is about $0.41. If the payout involves a currency conversion, eBay also charges a conversion fee of 3%, rising to 3.25% from October 14, 2026.

Are eBay seller fees different in Canada?

The structure is the same on eBay.ca. As of October 6, 2026, eBay.ca charges 13.25% on sports trading card sales up to $7,500 and 2.35% above, in Canadian dollars, per its Canadian selling fees page. The per-order fee is $0.30 or $0.40 at the $10 mark, and you get 250 free listings a month, then $0.30 per listing.

How does eBay pay sellers?

eBay pays out to your bank daily by default, and you can choose a less frequent schedule. Funds usually become available one to two days after the buyer pays, then take one to three business days to reach your bank. An Express payout costs $2 and usually lands within 30 minutes, according to eBay’s getting paid page.

How do you see what you actually keep after eBay fees?

eBay’s payout report shows fees per order, but it does not subtract your postage, supplies or what you paid for the card. To know your real profit, you have to combine all of those yourself.

WaxEngine does that for you. Its profit reporting shows your real profit on every sale after eBay fees, shipping labels, refunds and the cost of each card, across two years of your eBay history. You see which cards made money and which only looked like they did. Our guide Are You Actually Making Money Selling Cards on eBay? explains why the payout total and your real profit are different numbers.

How can you lower your eBay fees as a card seller?

You cannot change the fee rate, but you can change how much each sale gives up:

  • Sell cheap cards in lots. One $20 lot pays one per-order fee instead of four.
  • Use promoted listings on purpose. A low ad rate on the cards that need visibility costs less than a high rate on everything.
  • Send offers to watchers. An offer reaches buyers who are already interested, without raising your ad rate. Our guide to sending offers to buyers on eBay explains how.
  • Price from sold comps. Underpricing costs more than any fee. Our guide to listing cards on eBay fast covers pricing a batch from sold listings.
  • Grade only when the math works. A grading fee is a selling cost too. Check what PSA grading costs before sending a card in.
